Happy Birthday, Myssy 15 Years!

The first Myssy was mastered on January 13th 2006 after several days of trial and error by Janne Rauhansuu himself in the mountains of Davos, Switzerland. The local grannies taught him to knit in a Teufi village cafe after the long skiing days. The first Myssy looked like a tea cosy - pannumyssy in Finnish - and that is how Myssy got its name.

The name was fitting for the whole international community.

The journey from Teufi to Pöytyä, Finland, is either super short or really long - depends on the perspective. But that is where a new chapter started for Janne and Myssy both. Today the former professional windsurfer is a happy farmer and chairman of the Finnish Organic Association. Myssy has become a fashion brand sold in world-known department stores, we’ve grown into a game changer in the Finnish wool industry, and we’re a significant employer of retired citizens. Also, we are spearheading the Finnish knitting movement.
