Mari-Anne was born in 1956 in Lammi, where she spent her youth and childhood. In 1975, Mari-Anne moved to Helsinki for her studies. Her next move took place in 1979 to Southwest Finland and the reason was, of course, a relationship. Mari-Anne and her husband relocated to Aura in 1988.
Before becoming a Myssy Granny, she worked as a secretary in a few different companies for a long time. Her most recent, longest (32 years), and, in her own words, the most interesting workplace was at Viking Line's Turku office in the sales and marketing department, where she retired as a sales manager in 2019. The Myssy Granny bug bit Mari-Anne while she was at the gym in a senior group, where one member mentioned knitting wool socks at Myssyfarmi. Mari-Anne says she learned some crafting skills from her mother, who was very skilled with her hands. In her own opinion, Mari-Anne may not be as skilled as her mother, but she is eager to pick up the knitting needles and learn new skills.
Mari-Anne mentioned that she immediately felt welcome in the Myssy Granny community, and the best part has been the sense of community and the shared love for crafts and sheep's wool. She is actively involved in various associations, including the local village association and the Martta organization. In addition to this, she spends her time taking care of perennial flower beds, devouring books, and keeping her joints flexible through physical exercise. Mari-Anne's motto goes like this: "Things have a way of working out." Mari-Anne also has a message for other grandmothers: "Let's enjoy life and the soft wool threads!"
