Our annual Kekri fest, traditional end of the harvest celebrations, took place October 1st. Almost 300 people came all over the county, and also from Turku and Helsinki, to enjoy the warm and sunny day. Traditional working methods were presented to the public and 15 teams competed in the playful "Modern Farmer's Skills Cup". For third time in a row, the winning team had more urban members than country members. City girls seem to rock in farmer's skills!
Most important of all, the nine sheep of Myssyfarmi where shread and the wool is now ready to be shipped to Pirtin Kehräämö. We are expecting some organic myssy wool for the Christmas season. After the operation poor things ran around all naked not knowing who they were or who they were with anymore. But it is just six weeks and their wool is all grown back and pretty again. Sheep are able to develop a layer of fat underneath the skin to keep them warm in two days, so don't worry, they are not freezing either.
