We prefer to use the organic wool of Pöytyä provided us by the Rintala farm with over 500 organic suomenlammas - finnsheep. Finnsheep is in origin a Finnish landrace that is known for its' soft and light wool with wide natural color spectrum. In our opinion there is no finer wool in the world than this organic, uncoloured wool of suomenlammas in all the shades of black, brown, grey and white. The sheep are sheared twice a year and the myssy wool is refined by Pirtin Kehräämö, which has manufactured Finnish wool since 1949. The coloured wool we use is also purchased from Pirtin Kehräämö and it is 100% of Finnish wool.

We also got four sheep of our own: Susi-lammas, Bambi-neiti, Paali-Onni, Mä-lammas; and five more for the summer season Hans, Paisti, Varras-Väyrynen, Liisa and Keijo-Irmeli. Each sheep is a character of its own. These sheep can roam free on their green pastures as long as the deep snow covers the ground. And they truly like to roam free, this summer they have had a nasty habbit of running away twice a week... The winter they spend in the old cow house of the farm. Myssymummo Ritva and shepherd Roosa take care of sheep together with isäntä and emäntä.

This winter we will be presenting a limited edition collection made of our very own wool of Myssyfarmi.
